The church controlled, influenced and regulated what people did during their day as much as they did in their own bed, according to an explanation by Dr Foot of Sheffield University. Birth to death, cradle to grave, it remained that from inception the Church ruled and proved to be the passport to heaven or hell based on whether they were your friend or foe.
